Life's too short to be unhappy, unsure, or unfulfilled. Trust me I know from experience. After I had my daughter in 2015 my own health journey began. I was induced with my daughter and had to be on IV antibiotics for about 27 hours until I had my daughter because I tested POS for Strep B. After I had my daughter, I developed allergies for the first time ever. I went to my doctor who referred me to an ENT who believed I had LPR. He prescribed me an anti-acid which I took for a while. I eventually started refluxing any water I drank. I began to get worried cause I knew something wasn't right. I went to my gastrologist had a EGD performed, and everything was normal. But I knew my body and I knew something was not right. I soon found out I was pregnant with my son. While pregnant with him my symptoms only got worse. I developed cholestasis and had to be induced with my son as well. This time was different though because I tested NEG for strep B. Which was a blessing. After I had my son, I developed post-postpartum anxiety. I was put on an anti-depressant which made my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest for 4 days. I couldn't take it anymore as it scared me, so I quit taking it. That same week I started experiencing digestive issues and soon found out my gallbladder was not functioning properly due to a polyp. So that got removed 4 months after I had my son. After my gallbladder removal I developed my first kidney infection and to on an antibiotic which gave me my first allergic reaction. After that I got ear infections every month for 6 months due to reflux coming up continuously. The anti-acids where not helping. It inflamed my adenoids so in order for me to stop having ear infections I had to get my adenoids removed in the spring of 2018. The reflux never subsided, and I soon developed symptoms of bloat, tachycardia, excessive saliva, and dizziness. I went to my doctors, but they couldn't find anything wrong. Until I found one that diagnosed me with SIBO. Which explained a lot. I took the antibiotic prescribed and it only relieved symptoms for about 2 months and then all my symptoms came back with a vengeance. At this point I was determined to get better. I kept losing weight no matter how much I ate. I had my new gastrologist do a Bravo PH test. Which revealed I was having reflux but also that my ph level was a 4. Which means it was too alkaline and the antiacids I had taken made my stomach acid not acidic enough. So, my body was having a hard time digesting my food. He wanted to keep me on the antiacid. After that I quit seeing him and took matters into my own hands. I started school while researching every way to regain my health and quality of life back. Not long after I started school, I developed an allergy to dairy which I thankfully had a reaction to at the allergy office at the time. The next day I developed cold urticaria. For those who don't know I became allergic to the cold literally. Every time I would go out in the cold I would break out in hives. I am still struggling with this, but I have it under control at the moment to an extent. My digestive issues started getting better in the summer of 2020 but then I had a huge set back. I got bit by a lone-star tick at my mom's. 2 months later I was diagnosed with alpha gal syndrome. I became allergic to all mammal meats and their by-products. My reactions were mostly gastrointestinal with some throat tightening in the end. The inflammation due to the constant reactions left me a salicylates sensitivity. So, I not only had to watch what I ate from the alpha gal I also had to be careful with vegetables and fruits due to my intolerance. My body was inflamed and reacted to everything for about 6 months. It was then that I reached out to an Australian naturopath who works under one of the leading experts in SIBO and digestive issues and slowly but surely started healing. I graduated in August 2021 with my bachelors in Complementary and Alternative Health with a minor in health and wellness. I am planning on expanding my knowledge by going back to school soon to obtain my PH. D in traditional naturopathy. Through my health journey I found my passion to help others in similar situations and to educate people on how to take better care of themselves through holistic health.
